Washington Stuns Nebraska in Improbable Big Ten Upset

November 1, 2026 - 11:52

The Washington Huskies entered Saturday night needing a Big Ten victory and found one in the most unexpected fashion, spoiling Nebraska's highly anticipated blackout game with a performance few saw coming. Demond Williams played a central role in the chaos, turning what looked like a straightforward home showcase into a night the Cornhuskers would rather forget.

Nebraska had built the evening around atmosphere and momentum, inviting a packed stadium to wear black and expect a statement win. Instead, the Huskies disrupted the script from the opening possessions, matching the Cornhuskers physically and refusing to let the crowd dictate the game's direction. Washington's offense found rhythm in key moments, while the defense forced Nebraska into mistakes that compounded as the night wore on.

For a Nebraska team that has shown troubling signs of regression in recent weeks, the loss raises uncomfortable questions about consistency and execution under pressure. The Huskies, meanwhile, leave with the kind of road win that can reshape a season, one built on resilience rather than style points.

Washington did not need perfection. It needed a win, and it got one in a setting designed to overwhelm visitors. Instead, the Huskies walked out of the blackout with the result that mattered most.
