Rangers manager Derek McInnes believes his team's goalless draw against West Ham United on Sunday made it obvious that the squad still requires reinforcements. The match, which was the club's final pre-season friendly, served as a clear indicator for the manager that work remains to be done in the transfer market.
Speaking after the game, McInnes acknowledged the progress made so far but pointed out the gaps that still exist. "It's clear certain areas we need strengthened still," he told Rangers TV. The Ibrox club has already brought in seven new players during McInnes' first transfer window since he took over from Hearts. Despite that activity, the manager feels the squad is not yet complete.
"There's been good work done by the club and there's still a good few weeks of the window left for us to try and address that," McInnes added. The draw with the Premier League side gave him a useful benchmark for where his team currently stands. With time still available before the window closes, the Rangers boss will be looking to add more quality to his squad before the competitive season gets underway.
