Wembanyama, Spurs win the West, topple Thunder 111-103 in Game 7 to head to NBA Finals

The San Antonio Spurs punched their ticket to the championship round with a hard-fought 111-103 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals. Led by rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama, the Spurs overcame a gritty Thunder squad that refused to go quietly on their home floor.

Wembanyama was the story, as he has been all postseason. The 7-foot-4 phenom posted a dominant double-double, finishing with 32 points, 14 rebounds, and 5 blocked shots. His presence on both ends of the floor was overwhelming, altering shots at the rim and stretching the defense with his outside shooting. When the Thunder made a run in the fourth quarter, cutting the lead to three points, Wembanyama answered with a clutch three-pointer and a thunderous dunk that silenced the crowd.

The Spurs' supporting cast stepped up as well. Veteran guard Devin Vassell added 24 points, while Keldon Johnson provided a spark off the bench with 18 points. San Antonio's defense tightened in the final minutes, forcing three turnovers that sealed the deal.

For the Thunder, it was a heartbreaking end to a remarkable season. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander fought through a sore ankle to score 29 points, but he had little help down the stretch. Oklahoma City's young core showed promise but could not match the Spurs' experience and size.

San Antonio now awaits the winner of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Spurs, once written off as a rebuilding team, are now four wins away from an NBA title. Wembanyama, in his first season, has already delivered the franchise back to the biggest stage.
