Von Miller sends ‘special’ message after signing with Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have officially signed veteran linebacker Von Miller, and the future Hall of Famer made it clear he is not just here for a paycheck. After putting pen to paper on a one-year deal, Miller sent a message to Cowboys fans that he described as "special," referencing the franchise's history and the chance to chase one more ring.

Miller, who turns 37 during the upcoming season, brings 126.5 career sacks and two Super Bowl titles to a defense that is undergoing significant changes. The Cowboys parted ways with several starters this offseason, and the front office has been vocal about getting younger and faster on that side of the ball. But adding Miller suggests they still want a proven pass-rush threat to mentor the new wave of edge players.

In his first comments since signing, Miller said he has watched Dallas from afar for years and always respected the star on the helmet. He called the opportunity to play for this organization a "full-circle moment" and said he plans to bring the same relentless energy he showed in Denver and Buffalo. He also hinted that his role will not be limited to third downs, saying he wants to prove he can still be an every-down player.

The move gives defensive coordinator a flexible chess piece. With Micah Parsons drawing double teams, Miller should see plenty of one-on-one matchups on the opposite edge. Coaches have already talked about rotating him early in the season to keep him fresh for December and January. Miller said he is fully healthy after missing time last year with a knee issue and feels "better than most guys ten years younger."

Cowboys fans have heard this kind of talk before from aging veterans, but Miller's resume backs it up. He was a key part of the Rams' Super Bowl run in 2021 and still recorded eight sacks in limited snaps last season. If he stays upright, this could be the steal of the offseason. If not, it is a low-risk bet on a future Hall of Famer who clearly still believes he has something left. Either way, Dallas just got a lot more interesting on defense.
