Red Wings Star Reveals Latest Larkin Contact Amid Trade Drama

Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider has broken his silence regarding the swirling trade rumors around captain Dylan Larkin, offering a rare glimpse into their private conversations during a turbulent stretch for the franchise. Speaking to reporters after practice, Seider confirmed that he has been in direct contact with Larkin since the news of the trade request surfaced, but he was measured in his response when asked about the captain's state of mind.

"We have talked, yeah. He is my captain and my friend, so of course we stay in touch," Seider said. "But I will not speak for him on that matter. That is his story to tell, and his decision to make. What I will say is that he is handling everything with a lot of class, as he always does."

The 23-year-old German blueliner, who has emerged as a cornerstone of Detroit's young core, did not shy away from the emotional weight of the situation. He acknowledged that the possibility of Larkin leaving has been a difficult topic inside the locker room, but he stressed that the team's focus remains on the ice.

"We know what is going on around us. It is not easy to ignore, but at the same time, we have a job to do. We are professionals. We are not going to let outside noise tear us apart," Seider added. "Dylan is a huge part of this team, but until something changes, we expect him to be here and we play for each other."

Seider also pushed back on the idea that the trade drama has created a fracture in the dressing room. He described the group as tight-knit and said that the veterans have stepped up to keep things stable. When pressed on whether he believes Larkin will remain in Detroit beyond the deadline, Seider offered a cautious but hopeful take.

"I do not know what the future holds. None of us do. But I know what Dylan means to this organization and to this city. He has given everything to this team. Whatever happens, I support him one hundred percent," he said. "If he stays, great. We keep building. If not, we have to respect his choice and move forward. That is hockey."

The Red Wings have not issued an official statement on Larkin's status, and general manager Steve Yzerman has remained silent on the matter. Larkin, who has spent his entire career in Detroit, has not spoken publicly since the report broke. Seider's comments come as the team prepares for a critical stretch of games, with playoff hopes hanging by a thread.

For now, the Red Wings locker room appears united, even as the trade deadline looms. Seider made it clear that while the speculation is exhausting, the bond between the players is not broken.

"People outside can say what they want. We are the ones in here every day. We know the truth," he said. "Dylan is one of us, and that is not going to change just because of a rumor."
