Penn Medicine named Alvernia University's official sports medicine provider

Penn Medicine has stepped into a new role as the official sports medicine provider for Alvernia University, building on an existing relationship between the two institutions. The expanded agreement means that student-athletes at Alvernia will now have direct access to specialized orthopedic care, concussion management, and injury prevention programs through Penn Medicine's network of physicians and athletic trainers.

The care will be delivered at the Penn Medicine - Alvernia Medical and Counseling Center, which already serves students and the broader community. What changes now is the addition of dedicated sports medicine services tailored to the needs of the university's teams, from game-day coverage to rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols. Penn Medicine's sports medicine specialists will work alongside Alvernia's athletic staff to coordinate treatment plans and keep athletes performing at their best.

Officials from both organizations emphasized that the partnership is about more than treating injuries. It also opens up educational opportunities for students pursuing careers in health sciences, giving them hands-on exposure to clinical sports medicine in a real-world setting.
