Paulo Bernardo Aims for Historic Victory in Champions League
January 29, 2025 - 19:37
Paulo Bernardo is determined to lead Celtic to a significant achievement as they prepare to face Aston Villa in their final league phase match of the Champions League. The team has already secured a play-off spot, but Bernardo emphasizes the importance of clinching their first victory over an English side in nearly two decades.
Celtic has struggled in their past six encounters with English clubs, with their last triumph dating back to 2006 when Shunsuke Nakamura's stunning free-kick helped them defeat Manchester United 1-0. That victory marked a memorable moment, propelling Celtic into the last 16 of the tournament for the first time.
As they gear up for the match against Aston Villa, the squad is eager to break this long-standing drought and enter the knockout rounds with a strong sense of momentum. A win would not only serve as a morale booster but also establish a new chapter in the club's European journey.
