Latest Update On Injured Sabres Captain Rasmus Dahlin is Encouraging

October 16, 2026 - 03:02

The Buffalo Sabres have received an encouraging update regarding captain Rasmus Dahlin after he left Monday's game against the Florida Panthers. The star defenseman exited the contest and did not return, raising immediate concerns about his availability moving forward.

While Dahlin has already been ruled out for the team's next game, early indications suggest the injury is not as serious as initially feared. The Sabres, who have struggled with consistency early in the 2026-27 NHL season, can ill afford to lose their leader on the blue line for an extended period.

Dahlin has been one of Buffalo's most reliable players, logging heavy minutes and driving play from the back end. His absence creates a significant void, but the latest reports point toward a shorter timeline than many anticipated.

The team is expected to provide further updates as Dahlin undergoes additional evaluation. For now, the Sabres will rely on their defensive depth to fill the gap while their captain works toward a return.

Buffalo's next few games will test the roster's resilience as they navigate this stretch without their top defenseman.
