Jays Beat Red Sox

August 12, 2026 - 01:43

Jays Beat Red Sox

Dylan Cease did not have his sharpest stuff on the mound, but the game still came down to the wire. He lasted five innings, giving up five hits and four walks while striking out seven. The damage came on two home runs, and neither one was a monster shot. One of them just snuck over the wall, barely clearing the fence. It was that kind of night where a few small mistakes added up.

The Blue Jays took advantage early, but the Red Sox kept fighting back. Boston chipped away and made it close in the later innings, but the bullpen could not hold the line. Toronto added a couple of insurance runs that proved to be the difference. The Red Sox had chances with runners on base, but they could not get the big hit when they needed it most.

For Boston, it was a frustrating loss because the game felt winnable. Cease was not dominant, but he was not terrible either. The offense did enough to stay in the game, but the pitching staff gave up one too many free passes. In the end, the Blue Jays did just enough to walk away with the win. The Red Sox will look to bounce back tomorrow and even the series.
