Carnell Tate Shines but Titans Offense Stumbles in Baltimore Loss

October 5, 2026 - 04:43

Rookie wide receiver Carnell Tate delivered the best performance of his young career on Sunday, but his breakout game was buried under a pile of offensive mistakes as Tennessee fell to Baltimore on the road.

Tate finished the afternoon just shy of a career milestone, repeatedly finding soft spots in the Ravens secondary and giving his quarterback a reliable target on third down. The young pass catcher showed the route running and body control that made him a high pick, and for long stretches he was the only consistent threat the Titans had through the air.

The rest of the offense could not keep pace. Cam Ward turned the ball over multiple times, killing drives that had been building momentum. A costly fumble in the second half wiped out promising field position and handed the Ravens a short field they converted into points.

The turnovers proved decisive in a game that stayed close into the fourth quarter. Baltimore leaned on its ground game to drain the clock, and Derrick Henry made the most of his reunion with his former team, running with purpose and finding the end zone in what amounted to a revenge performance against the franchise that traded him.

Tennessee now heads into the week with familiar questions. The defense kept the game within reach, and Tate's emergence offers a genuine bright spot, but the offense cannot afford to keep giving away possessions. Until Ward cuts down on the giveaways and the unit protects the football, efforts like Tate's will keep going to waste.
